The Top Two

Out of all the things we bought and received to prepare for the baby my top two things I could not live without are the Boppy pillow & the bouncer chair. Both items we have used since we brought her home and every day since.

The number one item would have to be the Boppy. Mine is the All is Well cover. It has a white side with an embroidered sheep and the other side is a mint green. This cover is one of the plush covers. Chris and I stood in BabiesRus forever staring at the Boppy section trying to decide whether to get a separate pillow and cover or to buy one as a set. Both ways are costly, and I could not believe how expensive they were. I had read up on it and all the reviews were good so I wanted one. From what I know now it was well worth the cost. I have used this pillow everyday all day long since I brought Chloe home. In the beginning I used it when I fed her or held her. You just circle the thing around your midsection and plop the baby on it. It relieves your arms from holding her for so long.

Once she got older we started using it to prop her up. We would place her in between us on the couch so she could look out and watch what was going on.

Another great use for the Boppy is for tummy time. When you’re pregnant there is a lot of info out there on tummy time and how important it is. Of course it sounds like a wonderful thing and it is a playtime for your baby. Well I am here to tell you kids don’t like tummy time, especially since they started the lay baby on their back for sleep. Babies are always on their back so when you put them on their tummy it is hard work. Of course this is necessary work on their neck muscles to get them strong enough to hold their head up. Chloe did not care for tummy time at all, and I felt like I was torturing her every time I would put her on her stomach. Finally Chris laid her over the Boppy and she loved it. She could lift her head for longer periods of time and soon I was able to put her directly on her stomach and she was fine.

Our bouncer seat is the Bright Starts By Your Side Infant Seat. This also is one of the things we have used from day one and every day since. I liked this particular one because it has a storage area underneath it. I store a blanket, drool cloth, toys & whatever else I need to be handy. This model also plays music and has a vibrate setting. It is a good height to reach her while sitting down. We drag this thing all over the house. We will place her in it with a toy and set her wherever we are at so she can watch us and vice versa.

Of course the seat is wonderful for naps, and she often will pass out in it after playing. My husband will often bring her into his office at home and place her beside his desk in the seat. This is great for me to take a break and also get things done like cook dinner. She is actually in her seat right now beside my desk while I write this post.

We Made It

I can not believe we made it to three months and Chloe is no longer a newborn and is now officially an infant. She is still small but she was real tiny back in the beginning. She did not fit into nearly all of the clothes we had. She was more of a preemie size. The first month we pretty much swaddled her in a blanket all the time. The biggest event this month was her first bath, she took to it well. The first month was pretty much a blur with all the feedings, & diaper changes and lack of sleep.

The Second month was much better. I had my first Mother’s Day. Chris & Chloe took me to a brunch at the lodge. She was so good while we enjoyed a leisurely meal. We also took her to her first movie. We went to see Star Trek. I packed a bag full of stuff in case I needed to take her out of the theater and sit in the car. She was great and was fine for the whole movie. She did so good that we went to the movies the next weekend and saw Terminator. Again she did great and was fine for the entire movie. We could see the light at the end of the tunnel and getting out of the house I started to feel more normal.

The third month was a relief. Chloe finally started to sleep through the night. This is such a big thing for your sanity. I almost feel like I can not ask for anything else, as long as she sleeps through the night I am good. Another major deal this month was Chris’s first Father’s Day. I made a really cool picture card for him through the Kodak website. We brought Chloe to the local cherry festival that weekend. I put her in one of those front facing carries that you wear. She did great as we walked around looking at all the craft booths.

I feel now I can finally start to journal about the goings on of our life with Chloe. I will try to catch up on some things in the next few posts.
