Getting Ready

Where does the time go? We have been busy getting things ready for the baby’s arrival. The crib is all set up and ready for our little girls slumber. We went with a Bassett baby crib that is one of those 4 in one. It will change into a toddler bed, a day bed then a double bed when she gets older.

The bedding we went with is a plush Winnie the Pooh and pals set. Attached to the crib is a Fisher Price Rainforest Peek-A-Boo waterfall soother. It is pretty cool it lights up has a monkey, frog and fish that move around and it plays water sounds or lullabies. I am hoping it will help the baby go to sleep.

We decided to paint the ceiling a pastel light blue and kept the walls a light yellow. We also changed out the ceiling fan for a more kid friendly version.

This is one of the art pieces for the Nursery, it is from my favorite animal photographer Rachael Hale. Underneath is a hanging rack I had for another purpose but thought it would be cute as a way to display some of our little girl’s outfits & what not. It was originally a bronze color and I spray painted it an off-white cream color to match the crib.

This is the swivel rocker I picked out. It is very comfy and I like how it has pockets on the sides to store things. I made the puffy lampshade cover to repurpose an old lamp for the room.

I only have 34 more days until my due date and from what I have read if I go into labor now they let you go ahead and have it. The baby should be developed at this point all the major organs are complete. At this time the baby is just packing on fat for insulation.

I am mostly uncomfortable. Putting on socks and shoes is nearly impossible. I go to the bathroom every few hours, sometimes more. The baby is constantly pushing on my bladder. Some times I stare at my belly as I see ripples of movement move across my skin. I think I have seen too many Sci-Fi movies and am half terrified that some alien is going to pop out and scurry across the floor.

I never went through the phase where I would push some one over for food, or just had to have a specific something or else I would be a psycho crazy lady. I think that is due to living out in the country and there really is not much availabale to want. I am into the mint double stuffed Oreo cookies at the moment, one or two a day works for me.

My baby shower is this Friday. I am looking forward to see how it turns out. I will let you know how it goes. This week on my list of things to do is to start packing a bag for the hospital.

Best wishes to you all. It has been so nice to be able to follow along with how things are going for you and the baby.

Nursery looks adorable. I noticed in the first picture that your cat is in the crib. I also just had a baby and we have cats. Be very careful, the cat may try to lay with the baby or lick the baby's face (milk residue) - either way the cat could harm the baby or smother it (unintentionally of course). We ended up getting a cat tent (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4726174) just to be on the safe side. I am not sure if it would work with the style crib you have, but might be something to consider.

I am very excited for you. Nothing better than holding that beautiful baby for the first time. Good luck and I hope your labor is short
